The Kevin Bloody Wilson Show is not just a concert performance, for most, it’s a full on event and an opportunity to tick from your bucket-list a chance to see Australia’s most unique International comedy legend. Kevin has become a national institution – a must see for any person wanting to see absolute original Australian comedy.

If we were asked to nominate one individual to best define Australian humour, for most of us, the name Kevin Bloody Wilson immediately springs to mind. His recently released biography ‘DILLIGAF, The Life And Rhymes Of Kevin Bloody Wilson’ is a raucous, earthy, in depth look at perhaps one of the only Australian comedians who has not bowed to the pressures of political correctness.

Kevin Bloody Wilson’s story is remarkable.  He has become a part of Australian Culture, a part of who we are and how we define ourselves. His DILLIGAF attitude is a quality to be envied.

He’s been listed in Who’s Who, his entire body of work has been preserved for future generations with the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra and his fan base stretches from Broken Hill to Buckingham Palace.

It’s also a known fact that nobody tells Australian stories better than Kevin Bloody Wilson. His peers agree:

“The world’s funniest Australian” Billy Connolly

“I love Kev.  My favourite is Livin’ Next Door To Alan.” Paul Hogan

“Hello John, is the funniest song I’ve ever heard in my entire radio career.” John Laws

Kevin Bloody Wilson is also the only international artist who can shift seamlessly between an outback pub to the hallowed halls of the London Palladium.

His record sales are now nudging the four million mark. Without traditional media support, all of Kevin Bloody Wilson’s albums and DVDs have achieved Gold Sales status globally, with many reaching Platinum, and one, ‘Kev’s Back’, awarded an amazing quadruple Platinum. Kev’s recordings can be found in such diverse locations as Outback Australia to Antarctica. From Big-Rig road trains to the console of Prince Charles’ Aston Martin.

It seems ironic that twenty-five years ago, Kevin Bloody Wilson was being arrested for performing his songs in public, yet on Australia Day in January 2010, he was officially nominated for Australian Of The Year for doing exactly the same thing.

Now, Kev tours often in Australia and internationally, always to large audiences of adoring fans. He maintains his stringent tour schedule because of his love of live shows, and the incredibly interaction he has with the multitude of fanatical Kev fans worldwide.

Well done Kev, you’ve done us proud. Don’t miss the legend in a venue near you!

Across five years, two studio albums and an EP, Windang’s Hockey Dad achieved more than two coastal kids could ever collectively dream of. Their last effort, 2018’s Blend Inn, ended up being one of the year’s biggest successes for independent Australian music. Not only did it crack the top 10 of the ARIA album charts, but it also notched up four spots in triple j’s Hottest 100, two sold-out national tours and accrued nearly 24 million streams on Spotify alone. Not bad for a pair of kids from a town where its previous biggest musical export was a jingle for a computer store.

Needless to say, when it came to writing Blend Inn’s follow-up, Zach Stephenson (vocals, guitar) and Billy Fleming (drums) could have easily switched to autopilot and followed the blueprint that had lead them to prosperity in the past. However, that’s not the path they chose to take.

Despite the fact the band returned to the exact same studio and used the same producer as Blend Inn – that being Robert Lang Studios and the veteran John Goodmanson, respectively – their third studio album Brain Candy is far from any sort of retread. It’s a textured, contemplative and thoughtful record – a reflection on life written by a band that has ostensibly grown up in public.

“When we were making the demos, it was kind of exciting,” says Fleming. “I feel like there will definitely be an element of surprise when people hear it.”

Stephenson, Fleming’s friend of over 20 years and bandmate of nearly 10, agrees. “It’s important to keep the fear instilled in you as an artist,” he says. “That sheer terror the night before something comes out is something you can’t replicate – and when people like it, it makes you even prouder of it.”

Listeners were first alerted to the existence of Brain Candy with the release of “I Missed Out” in November 2019. Premiered on triple j and landing at #60 in the Hottest 100 of 2019, the song hones in on cooing lead guitar and steely bass rather than the band’s go-to phaser-laden chords and boom-thwack drums. The song’s confessional, vulnerable lyrics also hone in further on the rawer honesty of previous singles like “I Wanna Be Everybody.”

Put it this way: It’s Hockey Dad, but not as we know them.

In many ways, that MO is reflective of how Brain Candy comes across as a whole. While they’ve created something that is still identifiably theirs, the route that they’ve taken to get there subverts what has come to be expected. Whether it’s the tense, volatile “Germaphobe” and “Heavy Assault,” the unexpected tropical detour of “Keg” or the morose, slow-mo balladry of “Itch,” Brain Candy makes bold ventures outside of Hockey Dad’s immediate sonic spectrum. It’s high risk, absolutely – but, as the album plays out, it reveals itself to be high reward as well.

The album’s title is a none-too-explicit reference to chemical intake to sooth one’s mind. Be it serotonin, antidepressants or something a little more back-alley, there’s a lot of provocative imagery when it comes to such a title – something that certainly isn’t lost on the band. To them, their ultimate brain candy is the music itself.

“It helps, putting pen to paper,” says Fleming. “If you’re feeling wiggy about it, just write about it. When we’re on tour, just sending it… at the end of the trip, you have these albums, and you have these songs that capture those moments.”

Whether you’ve followed their trajectory from grommets to garage-rock royalty, or you’re making your Hockey Dad debut out of pure curiousity, Brain Candy will prove to be one of 2020’s must-hear albums.

In 2020 Seth Sentry embarked on a weekly challenge. To get fans to submit beats, which he whipped up into short songs, and then dropped every Sunday on YouTube, like clockwork!

Super Cool Tree House became a weekly staple for Seth’s fans in 2020. Waking up every Sunday, we were treated to a recap of the week and a certain take on the world that only Seth could give us. This might have included current events from around the world or just some weird shit that Seth was pondering at the time, and everything in between.

The songs from Super Cool Tree House soon formed the makings of an album, which was release in June 2021. In the lead up to its release, Seth streamed teasers to the album on his Twitch channel, including the previously unreleased single Castlevania. Then during the Melbourne lockdown of June ’21, Seth streamed his entire life to the world via Twitch for 10 days straight. He slept, ate, worked out, rapped, laughed, cried for 214 hours non-stop. And yes, it did get weird!

Now it’s time for Seth to venture out of the house and onto a plane (remember those?), bringing his trusty sidekick DJ Sizzle to North Queensland for the Tropical road trip of a lifetime!

Catch the Super Cool Tree House Tour in Cairns, Townsville, Airlie Beach, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Sunshine Coast this February and March.

No doubt one of Australia’s fastest rising songwriters – albeit flying somewhat under the radar – Jack Botts has swiftly built a fanbase spanning over 250,000 Monthly Spotify listeners and over 14 Million catalogue streams in just a few short years. Brandishing an authentic and no-frills approach to life and music, the chippy turned-turned-busker-turned seasoned touring heartthrob is poised to break the ceiling.

2021 marks the release of his third EP, Slow Mornings, a charming 6-tracker that captures an incredibly formative period in the 23-year-old’s life. Marking a memory bank of the highs and lows of the last 18 months, Slow Mornings dives into new love – let alone a long-distance love in a COVID-world – and all its frustrations, anticipations, mountain tops and valleys.

Amid the personal and global hurdles 2020 threw at him, Jack took it in his stride and played over 90 COVID-safe shows across the country, from regional hotspots to multiple sold-out nights at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club, and a debut on the arena stage alongside the likes of Ocean Alley, Jack River and Ruby Fields. While ducking and weaving between state border closures in his van, navigating constantly changing capacities and performing multiple shows each night, you’d be forgiven for thinking his energy would be completely zapped, but still, Slow Mornings was born.

“This EP is a collection of tracks that represent a pretty crazy point in my life, and career. All the ups and downs of balancing a long-distance relationship with work. It talks about all the moments when you want to throw the towel in and give up, to the realisation that giving up just isn’t an option, despite the heartache,” Jack shares.

“The pandemic gave me a lot of time to think (sometimes too much) and dive into different genres and styles of writing. I feel I ventured out a little bit more than I ever have, which I really enjoyed. This EP will always remind me of a really tough year, but I appreciate everything that came from those lessons.”

While the EP certainly channels the year’s fatigue and uncertainty, Slow Mornings stands as an energetic, bright and free-flowing batch of songs. From the engrossing surge of ‘18th Floor’ to the quirky edge of ‘I’ve Got You’ and sweet sadness of ‘Tattoos’, Slow Mornings is packed to please.

Jack Botts releases independently and is distributed via UNIFIED Music Group. Slow Mornings is out in full Friday June 4, 2021.

San Cisco are a three-piece indie pop group from Fremantle, Western Australia. Set to an upbeat indie-pop groove on the cusp of innocence and heartbreak, this is where San Cisco lives. ‘Awkward’. ‘Too Much Time Together’. ‘About You’. Lovesick calls gone to voicemail and endless pondering of what went wrong.

Between You and Me is the fourth album by the indie trio from Fremantle released in late 2020. It was an album two years and at least one sadly remembered love affair in the making. Featuring leading singles ‘When I Dream’, ‘Skin’, festival anthem ‘Reasons’ and ‘On The Line’, it’s clear that the Hottest 100-heavy record Between You and Me tells a widescreen story of loss and letting go.

Fresh from the announcement of their forthcoming fourth album, Hello My Beautiful World out Friday 20 August via Wonderlick Recording Company, today Holy Holy shares their irrepressible new single The Aftergone (feat. CLEWS).   To mark the release, the sonic masterminds have announced a national tour in November and December. Holy Holy’s exhilarating live spectacle will commence on Thursday 5 November in Perth, and continue throughout Margaret River, Bunbury, Torquay, Frankston, Melbourne, Canberra, Wollongong, Newcastle, Sydney, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns, Adelaide, Hobart and Launceston.

Recorded in a series of modest studios and spare rooms in Tasmania and Victoria, Holy Holy’s fourth album, Hello My Beautiful World is perhaps their most fully realised. Built upon a foundation of electronic beats and rolling synths, the record combines lush string arrangements, May-esque guitar riffs and chanted vocals to produce a heady and persuasive mix. The record moves fluidly through a collection of feverish moods and atmospheres, unfolding unpredictably and building to a series of fierce and manic highs. It’s a dense and ambitious record suited to close and repeated listening.

Like many records you will hear throughout 2021, Hello My Beautiful World was largely forged in the midst of Australia’s lockdown period.   The pair didn’t tackle the album entirely on their own – Japanese Wallpaper added distinctive texture and flair across the album, CLEWS, meanwhile, have their voices featured on the incessant, electric cut The Aftergone, and of course there is the hyperactive, fiery guest verses of Melbourne rapper Queen P on Port Rd. Throw in the flourishes of composer Toby Alexander’s string arrangements, plus collaborations with The Presets Kim Moyes, and you’re looking at a record that sees the band redefining itself as a powerful force in the Australian songwriting landscape.

Featuring lead single Port Rd. feat. Queen P, the grandiose second single How You Been and recent arresting album track Believe Anything, Hello My Beautiful World is an accomplished release from a band that is certainly not short on accomplishments. With their three full-length albums to date, the duo have built a loyal and dedicated fanbase with over 100 million streams across their body of work and multiple gold and platinum singles hanging on their walls. If that wasn’t enough, there are nominations for ARIA Awards, J Awards and National Live Music Awards to take note of, all maintained through their fanatically attended live shows and unique songwriting.

Hello My Beautiful World will be released through Wonderlick Recording Company on Friday 20 August.

Travis Collins, a CMAA & CMC Male Artist of the Year and CMA Global Artist Award-winner, is never more at home than he is under stage lights – world-beating band in tow. It’s this captivating dynamism and essential energy that thrills at the core of supercharged new album, Wreck Me.

For the tireless Collins, the two years since the release of his previous studio outing Brave & The Broken can be measured in country miles. That album stormed the charts, spawned a string of No.1 hits, and launched a sweeping national tour that saw Collins and band bring their expansive sound to audiences far and wide.

Brave & The Broken arrived amid an immensely rich period in Collins’ already enviable career. Then the CMC Male Artist of the Year for two years running, Collins made 2018 his own. Brave & The Broken landed hot on the tail of three Golden Guitar wins for Our Backyard (2017) with Amber Lawrence, and a CMAA Awards sweep in 2017 on the back of Hard Light (2016), which saw Collins take home Golden Guitars for Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Single of the Year. Hard Light also netted three No.1 hits.

Rounding out an immense few years, Collins took home the 2019 Golden Guitar for Male Artist of the Year, and opened for US megastars Tim McGraw and Luke Combs.

Wreck Me sets to be the next chapter in an already impressive career.
